Let me create a lasting tribute to your much loved animals

I'm Karen Hobart, a Northumberland based, coloured pencil artist. After a life time of working with animals, I now have the pleasure of spending my days capturing their likenesses. I share my village home with two small brown terriers- my studio assistants, Wilf and Paddy.

My work is created using professional grade, light fast, oil and wax based coloured pencils. I draw on archival Grafix drafting film (those of a certain age may recognise it as that used by architects before everything went digital!). I love the smooth, buttery texture of the paper which allows me to capture crisp detail in gorgeous rich colours. The technique gives my work a contemporary appearance. My portraits focus entirely on the subject, allowing them to shine on a clean white background.
